Hi, I’m Ryan!

The girl behind For the Plot, and someone who will probably be just as excited about your wedding day as you are.

I’m a New England girl through and through. I love good coffee, concerts, traveling, trying new places, and having something on the calendar to look forward to. I’ve also always been a very big “say yes and figure it out later” person which is basically where For the Plot came from. It wasn't a carefully thought-out business name. It was just… me being me.

I've always been the friend who will tag you in her insta story because I am the friend that takes the photos/videos.

After a trip, a concert, or even just a really good weekend, I'd make little highlight videos on my phone, usually with a song that immediately became the song from that time in my life. I'd watch them months later and somehow remember exactly what that day felt like. Sometimes they make me insanely nostalgic, but mostly I'm just grateful I thought to capture it.

That's really what eventually became For the Plot. And trust me, do I sometimes hesitate when someone asks the name of my business because I'm not sure they're going to “get it”? Absolutely. But I actually love that about it now.

To me, doing something “for the plot” isn't about doing something crazy just for the sake of it. It's saying yes. Going on the trip. Buying the concert ticket. Celebrating things. Letting yourself get excited. Taking the picture. Recording the video. And realizing while you're living it that someday, this is going to be a story you tell.

When I started capturing weddings, that feeling made even more sense.

Having gone through my own wedding, I know how strange it is to spend so much time thinking about one day and then have it pass faster than you could have imagined. There are things happening all around you that you don't even realize are happening and getting to see those pieces afterward is one of my favorite parts.

Creating For the Plot felt like turning something I naturally loved doing into something I could give to other people.

I want you to be completely present and forget I'm even recording half the time. And when you wake up the next morning, I want you to have a camera roll full of little pieces of your day that bring you right back to how it actually felt.

I love getting to preserve a little piece of people's lives, because I've always loved doing the same with mine.

When I'm not filming your plot, I'm probably:

  • at a concert

  • trying a new coffee shop around the south shore

  • shopping

  • planning my next disney trip

  • cuddling my cat rooney

  • documenting the little things, always
